After school programs benefit the children long after they leave the playground. The benefits to each after school program vary but all hit the same key positive points: Programs keep kids from the computer, computer games and TV all the while they are being supervised by a young adult. Keeping them active, feeling great about them self and comfortable in a social scene, as well as being a part of a team/bunch. Programs construct confidence and friendships while keeping the children out of trouble. These programs not only form life skills but can aide parents in youngster care; they are inexpensive, local and beneficial to the community. Self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness, relationship building and decision-making skills can all be attained at these programs.
The employees of most city ran after school programs and sports programs are the local understudies of that city with the exception of a few mature high school students. I personally have worked after school programs throughout my school career. Undergrads benefit by learning multi tasking and prioritizing and the community benefits by having local mentors in their own community. A study conducted by the Department of Justice indicated that 29 percent of adolescent offenses occurred lập trình trẻ em tphcm between 2p.m. and 8p.m. these are the hours of after school programs and sports team activities. (Voltz, 2010).
Promoting healthy relationships between children and young adults is stressed in the programs; children have a chance at having a realistic good example. They do not have to stay in the crate with the standard pop star and athlete. The children assemble a special bond with their mentor/coach, having another adult figure to come to with problems or for advice beside their parents. In Baltimore, Maryland the police department indicated that children tried out the after school programs were 44 percent less likely to be a victim of violent crimes. (Voltz, 2010).
Young mentors offer guidance and a set of ears, with topics such divorce, puberty and absent parents. Reflecting back on my experiences the most I have at any point felt needed was at the program. A kid looking for protection from his parents, when I had to inform his parents of his bad behavior, Charlie was acting out during our homework hour. Instead of clinging to his own flesh and blood mother that he was raised by he clung on to me the mentor who had just reprimanded and punished him only an hour prior.
A few months later he told me he spent more time with me than his own parents, his father working two jobs and mother working and raising him along with three children younger than him left minimal time for family bonding. He arrived at school at 7am to receive the state supported free breakfast and stayed till 7pm when the after school program finished, his sleep time was 9pm, so when you do the math, I was spending twice the amount of time with him then his parents combined during the week.
